Our Goals
To provide to the EDM (electronic dance music) community carefully planned and executed parties, both underground and permitted, that reflect the roots of our subculture while offering a revolutionary direction for the future. These parties will, as they did in the beginning, be thrown for love, not profit, and seek to create a genuine family vibe that is sensual and spiritual, loving and liberating, and embracing and welcoming the diversity of the music and dance community. But we will also take partying one step further by creating a new paradigm for our subculture: the dance community giving back to society as a whole by putting our values into action and helping the needy.
We hope that our parties will become "models" for the rest of the community. To accomplish this we must build our own "model" family. This family will seek to discover and nourish the skills and talents of each family member through respectful mentoring relationships so that every individual will be able to contribute happily and with passion in the creation of our parties. Further, we will encourage genuine responsible partier values in this family with the hope that these values will be reflected in our parties and outward from there to society as a whole.
One of our most important goals is to transform the very act of joyful music and dance into an act of community service by establishing Moksha Tribe as a non-profit corporation that has as its intention raising money for worthy charitable organizations. All profits generated after expenses will be donated to charity and our books will be open to all.
Ultimately, we hope that our "model" parties and family will have some positive impact on the public's misguided views of our subculture. We will actively work to change these perceptions by positioning ourselves as individuals with genuine interest in improving society as a whole through charitable acts that arise from our love of music and dance.
It will take us some time and effort to arrange for the non-profit corporation status. We, of course, will not be inactive in the interim. Donations can be made to worthy charities, like Larkin Street Youth Center, without our non-profit status. We hope to begin our journey as a family by throwing small, underground parties that will be learning experiences for us all.
